Everyone deserves to relax after a hard day at work, and what better way is there than the classic after work drink. Whether you’re heading out for a quick glass of wine or end up staying out a bit longer than you should, Manchester has you covered.
Here are some of our recommended highlights…
There’s nowhere else in Manchester quite like Corbieres. A decade’s old institution, this underground wine cavern is a classic place to go for an after work drink. Hidden away around the corner from the Royal Exchange Theatre, Corbieres has an extensive wine list, some great beers and a legendary jukebox.
Originally a 16thcentury building used to roast hops in Kent, The Oast House was moved to Manchester brick by brick in the 21st century and is a popular cosmopolitan bar and restaurant in Spinningfields which looks more like a country pub than a city centre nightspot. Its selection of beers, champagne and wine is famous across the city, and the food on offer is equally perfect for a light snack or a larger dinner.
Whilst this isn’t technically in Manchester, it is only just over the border into Salford so we are happy to claim it for this list. As unassuming exterior hides a cocktail bar that is an essential visit for people in the know. Run by bar managers with experience of the Midland Hotel and London’s famous Clove Club, the cocktail menu at Peggy’s is astounding and changes weekly.
Local innovations sit side-by-side with spins on classics like Pina Colada, creating something truly unique – and a great place to take people after work to show off your local knowledge and good taste.
This bar and grill in Castlefield has a huge outdoor terrace and stunning interiors, making it an ideal after work spot all year round. There’s not much better than a drink by the water, and not many better places to get one than Dukes – and if you end up staying out for dinner, Dukes offers an enticing menu of seasonal dishes which will have something for everyone.
