Manchester Food and Drink Festival

Food glorious food, where would we be without it?! Partner it up with a good glass of vino or a cocktail, then we’re talking of a match made in heaven - particularly in the centre of Manchester. With so many amazing bars and restaurants around our iconic city, what could be more fitting than the celebration of the Manchester Food & Drink Festival?

Arriving in Cathedral Gardens between the 16th and 27th September, there is so much going on that will leave you salivating. We’ve gathered some of the event highlight to help you plan what you’re going to devour this year!

The free-to-enter base for the event is at the Festival Hub. Each week sees seven independent food businesses fill the marquee and serve up their finest splendour to the visitors. From the best pies in the North, Grilled Cheese sandwiches with a twist and the creamiest dairy ice cream – there is sure to be plenty of choice when it comes to fulfilling your cravings.

Across the city there will be celebrations of the nation’s much-loved food and drink. On Wednesday 22nd September the standout ‘Manchester’s Biggest Chippy Tea’ event will be taking place. If there is one meal everyone can sit around and enjoy in agreement, it certainly is a chippy tea. If you are after the traditional fish and chips, Anchors of Didsbury will take care of you. Vegans do not need to panic either; JJ Vish and Chips will be serving their modern plant-based take on the British classic. With many other celebrations taking place, you can find the whole schedule all within the MFDF app, available on Apple and Android platforms.

Edible goodies aren’t the only feature of the fun. The CityLife stage will showcase some of Manchester’s best local bands and musicians. On Friday 17th September the stage will play host to The Lottery Winners. Brought to life from Leigh, they will be performing an acoustic preview ahead of their first live gig at the Ritz on September 25th. Having played festivals throughout Europe, they have supported some of the country’s biggest acts such as the Kaiser Chiefs and Blossoms.
