With the news that gyms are temporarily closing, many have begun to wonder how they were going to keep up their usual fitness routine. But fear not – some of our favourite gyms and classes are now going to be coming directly into your living room, meaning you can keep up some of your favourite local classes as well as trying something new!

One of the best facilities in the city – and a true Alliance City Living favourite – Blok is taking its amazing classes online. They are launching their subscription service, BLOKtv, in partnership with Beats by Dre, and in the meantime their amazing trainers will be doing Instagram live videos throughout the week. From BLOKsculpt to Boxcon, pick your favourite and join in with the Blok crew!
Hero Training Clubs
Manchester-based Hero Training Clubs is really ramping up its offerings with a full schedule of free live workouts each day on Instagram. They post their weekly schedule every Monday so you can choose which sessions you would like to do. Whether you prefer HITT, yoga or a sculpting session, the choice is yours.
Another Manchester fitness institution, Barry’s Bootcamp isn’t letting a little bit of social distancing stop them from bringing their epic workouts into your living room. The team are putting on free 30-minute classes every day, providing all the fun of Barry's without the normal treadmill part.
The uber-luxury London based fitness studio has rolled out a plethora of classes on its paid platform. They are also offering up a seven-day free trial, so you can try before you commit (subscriptions are usually £12.99 a month). Their notoriously punishing classes, from stretch-and-sweat to Pilates, are all brought to you from their much-loved instructors’ living rooms!
If you love boxing, then head over to the KOBOX Instagram page for their daily live classes. These workouts are not for the faint-hearted, but their amazing instructors keep you going by shouting out words of encouragement and tips on the way. You can even share screens with the instructor, making sure you perfect your moves, but also giving you no opportunity to slack off!
If the ballet-inspired workout barre is your thing, or something that you have always wanted to try but never got round to, then take a look at Barrecore’s instagram. They are doing daily 30-minute workouts on the platform – join in and get ready to feel the burn!
Kayla Itsines is a fitness phenomenon, and the Instagram star is offering up a 12-week home fitness plan. We are all hoping that we will not be stuck at home for that long, but it's an excellent plan, lockdown or not. The 28-minute workouts start at low intensity and work up to high intensity, all guided by expert PT Kayla. They are super easy to follow, and you can join a whole community of people on the same plan to give each other encouragement.
Gym Shark Train
You may know Gymshark for its popular fitness gear, but they also have an epic workout app called Gymshark Conditioning for the whole body. None of the workouts use any equipment, so don’t worry if you didn't get your amazon order in before lockdown. Take a look at the app if you are looking for a sure-fire way to tone up.
POPSUGAR Fitness has been offering free online tutorials for years. They also have special guest trainers from all the best LA gyms Equinox, SweatBox and Simon De La Rue, so you can enjoy one of the world’s most popular classes for free from your living room. They have a class for everything: yoga, barre, boxing, abs, HIIT, pilates… the list goes on and on. Each class has adaptations so you can join in no matter what your fitness levels. Joe Wicks has been bringing workouts to people's homes for the past five years, and it is an art that he has perfected. His ‘Lean in 15’ HIIT based routines are there to make you burn fat and get fitter, stronger and healthier. Since lockdown, Joe has also been holding daily PE lessons at 9 am which you can live stream at home so all the family can get involved.
