The great re-opening has begun. Last week shops were given the green light, and now the hospitality industry is set to follow early in July – news that has got everyone jumping for joy.
We have loved nothing more than seeing the city buzz again. We have survived the zoom quiz’ and WFH, and now it’s great to have something real to look forward to. Here are some of our wonderful neighbours who have re-opened their doors to the city:
After months of waiting, we are delighted to be able to venture into the beautiful Glass House at Whitworth Locks. This glorious ramshackle of an indoor-outdoor jungle is located just a short stroll from the front doors of AXIS.
Glass House stocks some of the best plants, hanging baskets and beautiful homeware in what is undoubtedly one of the most Instagrammable locations in the city. Explore the surreal pink world and leave with a leafy companion.
Glass House is open every day of the week from 11-6.
Last Monday we saw one of our favourites Selfridges warmly welcome visitors back through their doors. With ample safety measures in place, and extra hosts to guide shoppers safely around the store, everyone can feel relaxed and welcome here.
A beautiful display covers the windows as you walk in, a 'Thank You' message which has been designed in part by the Selfridges team to celebrate all the incredible work done by those who have kept the country going. We have missed everything about this store and can't wait to return.
For those who don't want to venture to the store, you can still shop online, book in a virtual online shopping experience or even a private makeup tutorial on the Selfridges site!
Selfridges is open every day of the week from 11am -7pm.
It has been the simple comforts from our daily routine that we have been missing the most. Not being able to enjoy a proper cup of coffee from our favourite cafés has been high on our list of daydreams. Lucky for our AXIS residents, only 50m from their front door is one of Manchester’s best coffee shops ManCoCo.
The local favourite of coffee lovers, roast all their coffee beans in-house, which creates the wonderfully aromatic smell billowing from their front door. Grab a coffee for takeaway - but make sure you get there early as ManCoCo are currently only open from 7:30 am - 2 pm Monday to Friday.
Clearly, one of the things we have missed most in lockdown is decent cooking, and while restaurants are still closed for walk-ins, the latest guidance means that they will be able to reopen from the 4th of July. One, in particular, we can't wait to visit is San Carlo.
The team have been cheering up our lockdown Saturday nights offering their finest Italian cuisine for delivery, but we have been dreaming of a wander around their beautiful restaurant again. We are so excited for their reopening we might just start queuing up now.
Reopening will be on the 4th of July but for now, you can still enjoy them at home.
