The History of Manhattan

Discover the history of Manhattan Manchester blog header

Manhattan began life as a 1970s 5-storey city centre office block before being converted into the beautiful collection of boutique apartments it is today by our sister company Property Alliance Group. They reimagined the building, seeing that its central location and proximity to amenities made it the perfect spot for luxury homes.

The location is where John Dalton (1766 -1844), pioneer of atomic theory in Chemistry and President of Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society, had his laboratory. A commemorative blue plaque celebrating his achievements can be seen on the front façade of the building.

Completed this year, Manhattan is situated just off New York Street, only a short walk away from tram stops at Piccadilly Gardens and St Peter’s Square where you can access the fantastic transport network that Manchester has to offer.

The design of the 42 apartments is influenced by the industrial loft style interiors of New York, with a nod towards the brownstone residences that can often be seen in the US. A contemporary twist can be seen throughout the apartments.

Distinct and filled with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows that create bright, airy living spaces which residents can make their own. Rear-facing apartments benefit from private balconies which are planted with lush foliage, bring you peace and serenity in the heart of the city.
